I have very sensitive skin and it will break out from anything, but I love make-up and want to wear it more often, is there any products or something you recommend to help stop these breakouts while wearing make-up?
Oooooo, I’m no dermatologist, so I don’t want to give you too much of the wrong info, but a start would be to use an astringent like Witch Hazel before applying makeup, and find cosmetics that are hypo allergenic so they don’t just sit in your pores and create unnecessary bacteria. I would also use a concealer in my problem areas and not all over foundation, and go over it with a colorless blot powder so that you’re not too heavily made up & your skin can still breathe. I hope this helps! If not, email me any time @ Drini@EyeDreamOfDrini.com
Hi!! I have about the same complexion as your model on the top of this page. What are some bold lip and eye colors that will work with my color? Also, should someone my color use bronzer?
You can wear any lip color…..I mean, I would stay away from anything that’s too white & chalky in appearance, but all the colors like purples, oranges, reds…..DO IT!! M.A.C. has these new lipsticks that go on like a lipstick but give the appearance of a gloss & the color is potent…they’re called “Sheen Supreme Lipstick”. And yes, lol, you can absolutely use bronzer….darker complected women can do all the same things lighter women can, just using different shades of a certain product….so use a color called Pecan by NYX, it’ll give you the perfect glow.
your makeup don't post is high-larious! i chuckled at both the contouring slide. lil' kim has created a million lil' monsters! ha! and yea, who started the black lip liner trend? i still don't get that look.
Haha, thank you lady…..NO ONE understands the black lip liner trend @ least not those who still wear it to this day…..it’s so over a decade ago, we need to let go!!! But I’m glad you found it amusing…hopefully you saw some usefulness there too, whoop whoop!!
Hi there. I love the nude lip look. My complexion is dark brown, what can I use to get that sexy nude lip. Thanks!
Well the best way to do a nude lip on darker skin is to use a brown pencil with the intent to completely blend it in w/ the lipstick shade…..I would try Honeylove or Kinda Sexy (lipsticks) by M.A.C., preferably Kinda Sexy b/c it has a pink undertone to it.
Outline your lips with Rose Brown lip liner by NYX, you can get that @ most any Beauty Supplies, and after you line your lips, fill in about 1/4 inch into your lip and then add the lip color on top and blot to blend. Hopefully this makes sense
It's the eyebrow lady again. My natural hair color is black. I have braids and used a mix of 1B & 33. Also what do I do about thinning brows. Thank you
Hi brow lady!! lol I used to use 1B, how funny….but you can get this brown hair mascara from Kiss at any Beauty supply and apply it to your eyebrows in an upward motion the way you would apply mascara to your lashes. It will help with the appearance of thinning brows and give you a natural color. Hope this helps
what type of face wash do you use whether if it is cleanser, moisturizer, and/or exfoliator?
I use Aveeno’s Foaming Facial Cleanser, it’s super lightweight, helps improve skin tone and prevents breakouts….been using it for years. And after that I use Neutrogena’s Clear Pore cleanser and lastly Aveeno Moisturizer
Hey! Im doing my best friends makeup for her wedding and was wondering if you can give me any makeup tips for wedding day....her wedding is black and white and i wanted to give her a classy look! thanks in advance
Heck to the yea…congrats to your bestie and **high five** for making her look fab!
My top 5 tips for a wedding would be:
**Waterproof mascara, waterproof eyeliner for top and bottom lid
**White eyeliner on the bottom inner lid is great for weddings….it opens and softens her eyes, where black eyeliner is harsher
**Be sure to apply a base under her shadow so it doesn’t crease throughout the day..I use one by NYX Cosmetics in skin tone…you can purchase it here: http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/products/eyes/eye-shadow-base/eye-shadow-base
**You guys should go to a cosmetic counter before the wedding and test out lip and cheek colors…this way you’re not scrambling for shades the day of and you can match it to her skin tone
**Biggest one!!! Prep her skin with an oil controlling moisturizer to keep her foundation matte and not greasy. And be sure to keep blot papers and blot powder nearby for after the ceremony when it’s picture time!
Drini, I've tried creating a smokey eye but instead I look like an utter fail and mess! Now I'm starting to believe that maybe as a darkskin woman, smokey eyes just doesn't work well on us. Is there still hope or should I just continue stay away?
Haha, no….don’t stay away…..I think ppl assume that smokey means black, gray, brown….when really it’s just a more pronounced, vivid take on eye makeup.
Try darker colors that have an iridescence to them so the color doesn’t appear caky or ashy. You can dip the tip of your eyeshadow brush into some water and then into your shadow and apply to your lid…that keeps it from appearing dull…I hope this helps!!
